About MRS. BALL

Hi, I am Heather Ball.  I was born in Nebraska and raised on a family farm.   My parents still live and continue to operate the family farm south of Auburn, Nebraska.  I have one sister who lives in Elmwood, Nebraska with her husband and their two children.  Several years ago I was blessed to start a new adventure in my life when I met Mr. Ball and we have started our family. I quickly decided that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him and have been very blessed to have found such a wonderful man, who accepts my uniqueness!  Our daughter Lucina keeps giving us adventure after adventure.

After graduating from Auburn Public Schools, I attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri where I earned my Bachelors of Science in Education degree. After college, I taught for Archie R-V School District for five years. I have spent the rest of my teaching career at Platte County High School. During my time here I have completed my Masters of Education through Park University in Parkville, Missouri, Certification for Guest Service Professional and Hospitality Instructor from the American Hotel and Lodging Association.

What led me to become a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher was 4-H.  Through 4-H I was able to explore a variety of projects, career avenues and interests.  It is where I learned that I enjoy working with young adults and fell in love with home environment projects.  These experiences led me down the Family Consumer Sciences avenue. I enjoy getting to teach a variety of topics and help students develop life skills. I believe it is important to empower individuals, families and communities.  Family and Consumer Sciences gives me this opportunity!  My personal educational philosophy is that we all have the choice to the type of education we receive.  This means that it is our responsibility to make your education experiences relevant to us.

I am very excited to be a teacher at Platte County High School and I look forward to getting to work with you!
